Sculptra™ is used for restoring volume and improving facial contours
Sculptra Aesthetic™ is Poly-L-Lactic Acid (PLA). PLA has been safely used in orthopedics since the mid-nineties and has been used in Europe since 1999 for cosmetic correction of scars and wrinkles.
Sculptra™ is used for restoring volume and improving facial contours. Sculptra works differently from other injectable products such as botox, collagen and restylane injections. With Sculptra, tiny particles of PLA are diluted in a suspension of sterile water, carefully implanted in the skin, and then molded for optimal results. The particles of PLA stimulate the formation of new collagen in the skin, adding volume over time.
Sculptra™ may require a series of three to five treatments every four to six weeks. Improvement in contour occurs gradually over two to six months, an advantage for those people wishing to avoid the obvious tell-tale overnight change in appearance of cosmetic surgery. Proper use of Scultpra produces a more youthful, pleasing facial contour in people with facial aging, wrinkling and loss of facial fat.
Sculptra Aesthetic works to replace lost collagen in a series of treatments administered by a Sculptra Aesthetic trained physician. On average, 3 injection sessions are needed over a period of a few months, to produce noticeable results that emerge subtly and can last more than 2 years.* Photos have not been retouched.
*Individual results and treatment regimens may vary. Clinical trial ended at 25 months.
Treatment considerations for Sculptra Aesthetic:
- Sculptra Aesthetic is not for use in the lips.
- Sculptra Aesthetic is not recommended for use in the periorbital area (eye area).
- Safety and effectiveness of Sculptra Aesthetic have not been evaluated in areas other than the nasolabial wrinkles and folds in clinical trials.
Restore Fullness: Non-Surgical Facial Rejuvenation
A unique collagen volume stimulating treatment, Sculptra Aesthetic is ideal for sagging, wrinkled, aging skin and can produce significant non-surgical facial volume. It can restore youthful fullness to cheeks, chin, temples and handss.
Safe, Biocompatible Treatment
Sculptra™ Aesthetic does not harm the body, as poly-L-lactic acid is biocompatible and biodegradable (i.e., can be broken down by the body). It has been widely used for many years in dissolvable stitches, soft tissue implants and other types of implants. Sculptra™ Aesthetic is not made from human or animal sources and does not require a skin test.
Sculptra™ Aesthetic is approved by the FDA for restoration and/or correction of the signs of facial fat loss (lipoatrophy) in people with human immunodeficiency virus.
Long Lasting Effects
Unlike fillers, the effects of Sculptra™ Aesthetic tend to last longer. In a clinical study, effects lasted for up to 2 years after the first treatment session in most patients.
