Dysport® is the next most common botulinum toxin type A for wrinkles after cosmetic Botox®. Like Botox®, this wrinkle fighter also inhibits facial muscle contractions that eventually lead to forehead lines, frown lines and crow’s feet. Results of Dysport® are often noticeable within a day or so, quicker than Botox®, making it a great option for someone looking to enhance their appearance more quickly for an upcoming social event, wedding or important meeting. The cost is about the same as Botox®, with results that may last longer than Botox®. Results are dependent on each patient’s response and may not be as strong as with Botox®. In some cases, Dr. Barad likes to use a combination of products to give you the best outcome – Artist’s Choice.
Dysport® may last longer than Botox®, giving longer-lasting results for frown lines, forehead creases and crows feet.
Dysport® may last a little longer than Botox®, but only you will be able to determine this if you are currently a Botox patient and want to try Dysport® as an option so you can compare the longevity for yourself. Dysport® has fewer proteins surrounding the toxin, so it should stimulate a weaker immune response to break it down. This may make Dysport® a good choice for Botox patients who find that Botox no longer works as long for them as it had in the past because their bodies may have developed antibodies.
Prevent Lines From Forming. Erase or Visibly Soften Existing Lines.
Concentrating, squinting into the sun, laughing or frowning, your face muscles contract and your skin develops creases as a result to these facial movements. The elasticity in your skin is lost as you get older and causes those creases to deepen into lines that are etched permanently on your face. Between your brows, frown lines (glabellar lines) can become more noticeable, even at a relatively young age, making you look angry or worried. Dysport® smoothes these lines by relaxing the muscles you use to frown, restoring that youthful, less stressful-looking facial expression.
Safe, FDA-Approved Treatment
In April 2009, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved Dysport® for the treatment of frown lines and wrinkles. The cost is relatively the same as Botox, or a fraction less in comparison.
